Having a Younger Body Through Inversion Therapy

Nothing can be more debilitating than constantly suffering from back pain.  Not only does this have a negative affect on how you feel each day, but it also affects how you appear.  Studies have shown that a person in pain can appear several years older than they really are.  Fortunately, if you suffer from back pain there are therapies which can help to reduce your pain and improve your life.

One such therapy is inversion through the use of inversion tables.  While inversion therapy may sound a little strange, it can actually be very effective at reducing your back pain.  In addition there are several other natural benefits to regular use of inversion tables:

  • Increased blood flow and circulation.  Many of us look a lot older than we are simply due to poor blood circulation and varicose veins.  Regular inversion therapy can increase your blood circulation and help reduce varicose veins.
  • Increase lymphatic flow.  Your lymphatic system is similar to your cardiovascular system with one huge exception – there is no pump (i.e. your heart) in the lymphatic system.  As such, inverting can greatly help increase the flow of the lymphatic system to your extremities.
  • Reversing the affects of gravity.  It is actually true that you can become taller through inversion therapy.  Users find that they increase their height by an average of 1.5 to 2 inches after using an inversion table.  By reversing the negative effects of gravity each day you can be taller and feel better.

As you can see, there are many reasons why inverting should be a regular part of your workout routine (or part of your daily routine even if you don’t work out).  It’s highly recommended to purchase a good table such as the Teeter EP-950 inversion table, and use it for 5 to 10 minutes each day and night, and after a strenuous workout.

Beware of Sodium Laureth Sulfate

Many women believe that without their hair, their beauty will be lost.  We spend countless hours treating, conditioning, dyeing, and styling our hair to achieve the look that we desire.  The idea of losing our hair or having our colorful locks turn grey sends many women into an all-out panic.

So, then, why do we continue to destroy our hair on a daily basis by bathing it in chemicals?

Recently, I started using mira hair oil for my hair, an all-natural hair restructuring treatment.  With this new treatment, I started paying more attention to the chemicals that were contained in my favorite health and beauty products.  I kept seeing “sodium laureth sulfate” and “sodium lauryl sulfate” and wondered what they were.  Were these chemicals good or bad for my hair?

As it turns out, SLS and SLES are surfactants that strip our hair and scalp of natural oils, making it dry, brittle, and more prone to falling out.  Not only that, but some people believe that these chemicals are carcinogens — meaning they can contribute to cancer!  When we put chemicals on our scalp, they are easily absorbed into the body through our pores, especially when hot shower water easily opens them up.

I sorted through my hair care products and found that an astonishing amount of them contained these ingredients.  I pretty much had to purge my entire hair care line except for my mira hair oil products and a few products I had purchased at Whole Foods.  It was a costly lesson, but I now feel much better knowing that my hair won’t come into contact with SLS and SLES any longer.

Alternative Therapies for Anti Aging and Wrinkle Reduction

I know most of you probably think of a wrinkle cream when someone mentions anti aging treatments and regimens. This is true, they are probably the most popular alternative when women and men want to improve their appearance and look younger. However they aren’t the only option.

There are some good alternative therapies and treatments that don’t involve creams, lotions, needles or injections that you may want to try to look and feel younger.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

This process, similar to regular acupunture focusses on placing small medical grade needles where wrinkles and other signs of aging exist. The concept is that new blood flow helps stimulate a reduction in the wrinkle or line and unblocked Qi allows for some self healing.

The jury is out on it’s effectiveness, but there are women lining up for sessions across the country.

Facial Exercises

There’s no arguing that our muscles under the skin shape how our face looks on the surface. Because of this there have been anti wrinkle ingredients and injection based treatments formulated to relax those muscles so our appearance changes. However the longterm affects of these are not completely known.

Facial exercises work to strengthen and tone those muscles under our skin so that we are left with a more firmed looking skin surface.

Many women have seen amazing results and there are multiple books and small devices on the market that will help you get started if you’re interested in trying this anti aging alternative treatment regimen.

Do Alternative Therapies Work?

Alternative therapies often get bad press but they are actually very effective in certain situations.  Hypnosis, done properly and not for comedy, has proven to be very useful not only in getting rid of phobias but also helping with pain relief.  It is also quite effective at reducing the symptoms and effect of depression which is a good thing. It is very hard to stay positive when you are depressed but if you are not positive, life will be even more depressing!

But alternative therapies don’t work in every situation.  For example if someone falls ill with a sudden cardiac arrest, no amount of hypnosis, crystal therapy or anything else is going to work.  You need to call 911 and start CPR or the victim will die.   There is the chance the casualty will die anyway but their death is certain if everyone just stands back and does nothing.

If you are not sure what to do in the event of someone you love or know collapsing with a heart problem, why not go and get your Red Cross CPR certification.  The classes take a few hours and at the end of the time you will be fully confident not to mention proficient in your ability to potentially save a life.

There are some careers that require you to hold a valid CPR certificate.  Nurses, firemen, police officers, first responders and in some States teachers and nursery nurses are just some of the more obvious.  But this qualification can come in useful in other careers as well.  For example, if you plan on becoming an ultrasound technician or some other medical certification, having passed your CPR certificate will help impress your potential employer.

Teaching Belly Dance

So, you’ve been belly dancing for a few years and you feel called to share its essence with others. But there are obstacles – the costs of getting Your Own belly dancing school off the ground can be high, and besides, you’re nervous about teaching belly dance. What if you spend all that money, then find you’re no good at teaching?

That nervousness is easily dispelled by taking a belly dance certification course. With a prescribed syllabus and training in how to engage with students, you’ll have a solid foundation which will give you confidence.

Armed with your certificate to prove your credentials, you are more likely to be accepted by local community centers or adult education colleges, teaching belly dance classes in their program. It’s a much cheaper way to get started as a belly dance instructor, so there are less risks if you fail or change your mind.

When submitting your proposal to these venues, give some thought to marketing your program in ways that will appeal to a wider audience. You may have discovered belly dancing because of its spiritual benefits – but don’t forget that others may have different motivations, and you can take advantage of that: tailor your hobby to suit the likely abilities of the members of that institution.

If you are teaching at a women’s centre, for instance, you can emphasise the Earth Mother and healing aspects of belly dance. For the elderly, you are more likely to focus on helping them keep their joints and muscles active.  You can teach the younger crowd to tighten and tone specific muscles in their bodies, or you can teach classes emphasising the cardio benefits of this amazing unique dancing style. The possibilities are endless, just get going and lay the foundations with proper belly dance certification!

Do All Natural Cosmetics Really Work?

In today’s overly medicated environment many people are willing to pay large sums of money for more natural and healthy products.  This is especially true for beauty and skincare products.  Women are becoming more and more cautious of the substances they apply to their skin since the chemicals will be on their skin for hours or even days.

Even makeup products such as eyelash growth products which usually contain medications are being formulated with all natural ingredients. For example, this review of Godefroy lash treatment shows that it contains castor oil, lanolin, and vitamin E.  While these ingredients are good for your skin and are effective hair conditioners I’m not sure that they will have any effect on making your eyelashes grow longer or faster.

Besides eyelash serums, other popular all natural cosmetics include lotions and face creams.  In this instance, all natural ingredients are effective for moisturizing and hydrating skin.  Natural ingredients such as hyaluronic acid hydrates skin and fills in wrinkles.  Vitamin E and vitamin C are powerful antioxidants and skin serums with a high percentage of vitamin C or vitamin A are very effective exfoliants.

So while it may seem that skincare products with all natural ingredients do not work, it really does depend on what effects the products are supposed to have.  There has been more research in the field of skin repair and anti aging with all natural ingredients so these types of products will work better.  The field of hair regrowth is still in development so all natural products that claim to give you longer eyelashes should be taken with a grain of salt.

Helpful Skin Care Tips

Did you know your skin is actually the largest organ in your body? Because of that, it needs extra care and attention due to the amount of abuse, that your skin must endure over time. In today’s article, we are going to cover a few basic tips that will help ensure you protect your skin and the types of products like Argan oil

First, you really need to protect yourself from the sun, especially between the hours of 10 AM – 4 PM, since the sun is at its highest and most potential harmful phase. This is where the sun’s UV radiation is highest. For example, you should wear protective clothing as much as you reasonably can. If you are in the southern part of the world, this is not always possible due to the extreme heat.

Second, you really need to be using a good quality sun screen. Don’t just get any type from your local department or drug store. Do some research online if you need to. Ensure that it has a high SPF rating of at least 25 or higher. Depending on where you live, you may even go as high as 35 to 40 SPF.

Third, treat your skin with the respect that it deserves. For instance, limit the amount of time you spend in the bath. For example, long hot showers over and over again, are actually not good for you. Avoid things like strong soaps and shampoos. Use organic based products like Argan oil or Aloe vera for your skin care needs.

Fourth, ensure that you eat a healthy and balanced diet. Believe it or not, you are what you eat. If you eat a bunch of garbage food every day, at some point, your body is going to have adverse effects.

Are You Sure Acupuncture Does Not Hurt?

I have never tried acupuncture, Just the thought of someone sticking needles in me just doesn’t feel right. I suppose it is a bit like a lawn must feel when you use a lawn aerator on it. I know the needles are very fine, but still.

However when you hear all the stories of how it has helped people with so many different things I wonder if I am being a bit silly. After all it is reported to have helped those with conditions ranging from the physical, such things as frozen shoulders to arthritis, to the more emotional side of things such as depression.

I have watched videos and photos of people being treated, and no one screams in pain, in fact it is supposed to be very relaxing in itself. I know that the people who practice acupuncture have been trained, and everything is sterile, so I can’t use that as an excuse. Perhaps if I had something wrong with me that was really causing me some distress then I would go for it. If you are in a lot of pain then you would be willing to try anything, well once at least.

But for now, I just can’t persuade myself.

Ancient Chinese Cough Remedy: Ginger Eggs

There are many medicinal uses to ginger. Health care providers in China are aware of uses for ginger rhizome, ginger powder, and all common derivatives of ginger. However, in the western world we are only now beginning to realize the usefulness of this amazing spice as a medicine and a tonic for our health.

Take for instance the ginger herbal remedy for a persistent cough. Did you know that instead of buying a medicine off the shelf for the treatment of cough brought on by a cold, the flu, or seasonal allergies, many people today are making their own cough remedy?

Watch the video embedded below to learn how you, too, can make Your Own homemade cough remedy.

It’s so easy that even a chimpanzee can do it. What are the advantages to using a ginger herbal remedy over the average over-the-counter medicine? Here are just a few:

  • It’s less expensive.
  • It’s better for your health.
  • It doesn’t involve synthetic drugs.
  • The herbal remedy is also a nutritious food.
  • The herbal remedy is non-adddictive.
  • Herbal remedies work with your body’s own chemistry to help self-healing to take place.
  • You can make sure that there are no inactive ingredients that may serve as toxins, such as the sweeteners used in commercial medicines to hide the taste of the product.

When trying to treat a common cough, there is nothing like ginger eggs to help the healing begin.

A Four Step Approach To Treating Candida (You May Also Lose Weight)

Yeast infections occur when there is an overgrowth of Candida albicans in the body.  This overgrowth can occur in a localized areas such as the mouth (in the case of oral thrush), in the diaper area with babies or the genital area.  Women tend to suffer more yeast infections than men and it is estimated that 75% of all women will develop a vaginal yeast infection at some point during their lives.  Unfortunately yeast infections are not always localized, “on the surface” infections but can become chronic and systemic in nature, affecting many different parts of the body.

While diagnosis for localized infections is relatively straightforward due to the characteristic red, itchy rash that develops, it’s harder to diagnose systemic Candida yeast infections.  This is because the symptoms vary widely from person to person.  Some people may complain of digestive difficulties, food allergies, headaches and joint pain, while others may experience symptoms such as “brain fog”, depression and mood swings That Are primarily psychological in nature.

Quick-fix approaches to tackling yeast infections don’t always work.  They may help alleviate some symptoms but do little to resolve the chronic forms of the disease.  For that a broader approach to get rid of yeast infections, similar to the four steps set out below, will be needed.

Step 1:  Address any topical symptoms by applying a topical antifungal cream.  Monistat and Gyne Lotrimin are two popular over the counter antifungal products.

Step 2: Supplement this with homeopathic medications.  We particularly like sub-lingual homeopathic sprays such as Yeastrol.  Read these Yeastrol reviews for more details.

Step 3:  If you are taking antibiotics these will disrupt the populations of “beneficial” bacteria in your body that are thought to play an important role in keeping pathogenic organisms (such as Candida albicans yeast species) in check.  So book an appointment with your doctor to see if you can stop taking them.   Start a course of probiotics to increase the beneficial bacteria in your gastro-intestinal system.  Here’s more information on Threelac, a probiotic designed specifically to tackle Candida.

Step 4: Start following an anti-Candida diet plan.  Also called a yeast-free diet the goal is to weaken the yeasts in your body by starving them of sugars (their main food source).  It involves reducing your intake of simple sugars such as those contained in cakes, sweets, fruit juice and alcohol.  A reduced sugar diet?  Yes, that will also do wonders for your waistline.  Some yeast free guides also recommend cutting out any fermented foods such as vinegar and blue cheese.  Most nutritionists agree that raw garlic has antifungal properties, so try to eat a clove on a daily basis.
