When I was born, it was a big event. Not because births were particular special within the Gordon clan, but because a worthy child had not been born in five years. Everyone was holding their breaths the moment I came into the world. And they kept holding it for the two required weeks later, when I was investigated by the head of the Gordon family for the first time in the light. They released their breath when I was deemed a true heir, my light amethyst eyes staring up at them. Any child born without the eyes gets cursed, cast aside, and sold or enslaved. That is just one of the reasons I hate my family.
