I feel like my wants are not made important……?

I am kinda sad. I am getting ready to have my husband and I’s first child on friday. I asked a few months ago for a piece of jewelry for becoming a mother. I never ask for jewelry, the only real jewelry I have is my engagement ring, my wedding band is plain. I just really wanted an amethyst to symbolize our daughter’s birth. But when it comes down to it, he says we don’t have the money. Yet 2 weeks ago he spent $400 on bell housing for his 69 camero he is restoring. I don’t even want to think about how much that car costs all in all it is a $50,000 project he and his father have invested in. I just can’t help but not feel that important. And it just makes me sad. Any advice or people in similar situations?
Oh and yes I do work full time as a teacher, and I am in charge of paying bills and making the budget. If he does it, things get done late.

Make sure he is there with you in the delivery room – for every single minute of your labor & delivery. For most men, seeing what their wives go through, the emotional experience of seeing that child enter the world, changes the appreciation of everything their wives mean to them.

After being with me for the birth of my first child, my husband showed up the next day with a necklace with an amethyst & diamond pendant – and believe me, we really couldn’t afford it. After the next birth a few years later,with even less available free cash, another birthstone necklace. And the same after the third.

Our son & his wife are expecting their first child soon – and one of the first things my husband told him was to be sure to show his wife how much he appreciates what she is doing – for the nine months as well as for the actual birth. Some men just need a little push to grow up & be less selfish & more giving. Maybe becoming a dad – actually “participating” – will give your man a little push in that direction. Good luck!
