precious rocks found on beach? polishing hints?
geologists, gem enthuasiasts:
I have found some white/pink mottled rocks coming out of a cliff in Woolocombe Sands, Devon, UK. I thought they were amethyst, but after searching google images, it appears Amethyst is purple – and ideas what these could be?
Anyway, they look nice so want to polish them, all web searches on this have produced Rock Polishing machines for sale, can you do this without one, and how?

Don’t know how to polish one without some kind of tumbler. However, you might try rubbing it with oil. Not very permanent of course. I’d also suggest you find a rock club in the area–they might know more or could identify your rock. Kind of sounds like quartz to me.
