The bizarre landscape of sandstone carved along West Bay has a kind of beauty is a hot spot of Mars and local marine life and wildlife in general. You can access the rocky coastline quickly with a short path downhill. The high level of the Coast is very easy to walk in both directions for several hundreds of meters at low tide despite the lower slopes, which are blessed with more marine life, are covered with slippery algae. Fortunately for the less agile, yet many tidal pools to the slope of search. I see California sea lions swim regularly, especially between September and May, but there are a couple who stay all year round. During a very low tide about a new or full moon, the diversity of life here is even more surprising. anemones, some species of starfish color, different types crabs, sea slugs, sea cucumbers, sea cucumbers, singing fish, clinging, small shrimp green, like a blenny eel, snails and clams have a role in the incredible dance of life. I even found an octopus in a tide pool there.
Be sure to take pictures and nothing but be careful. Put all rocks and creatures back right where you found them. Life is hard on the edge and animals need shade and protection from rocks, shells and seaweed to survive heat and prevent dehydration or be eaten by predators. crabs and others have a specific territory, while singing fish guard their eggs and hatchlings. Sea stars are damaged when you pull the rocks. If you are in diving, the funds are even more pleasure with the giant Pacific octopus, wolf eel and kelp forest for fishing.
To reach the trailhead, take North-West entrance to the motorway to the Tourist Information Centre 19A and carry on Wall Beach Road and turn to the left. Keep right as the road becomes offshore Haven Road near another beach access. If you follow the Sea Haven at the end, there is little room for parking and the product outside of the track at the end of the road. Please follow the coast around the point of view, and the right of sea lions in the newspapers and watch the season for eagles perched in trees.
