Alternative therapies often get bad press but they are actually very effective in certain situations. Hypnosis, done properly and not for comedy, has proven to be very useful not only in getting rid of phobias but also helping with pain relief. It is also quite effective at reducing the symptoms and effect of depression which is a good thing. It is very hard to stay positive when you are depressed but if you are not positive, life will be even more depressing!
But alternative therapies don’t work in every situation. For example if someone falls ill with a sudden cardiac arrest, no amount of hypnosis, crystal therapy or anything else is going to work. You need to call 911 and start CPR or the victim will die. There is the chance the casualty will die anyway but their death is certain if everyone just stands back and does nothing.
If you are not sure what to do in the event of someone you love or know collapsing with a heart problem, why not go and get your Red Cross CPR certification. The classes take a few hours and at the end of the time you will be fully confident not to mention proficient in your ability to potentially save a life.
There are some careers that require you to hold a valid CPR certificate. Nurses, firemen, police officers, first responders and in some States teachers and nursery nurses are just some of the more obvious. But this qualification can come in useful in other careers as well. For example, if you plan on becoming an ultrasound technician or some other medical certification, having passed your CPR certificate will help impress your potential employer.
