Zen fountains are said to create a feeling of well being and peace. The stones are one of the most important elements of a Zen water fountain. For example, amethyst is the stone of protection; fluorite is the money stone; rose quartz opens the heart to love; and clear quartz enables power. This particular stone was used to create a special meditation fountain commissioned by California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife, Maria Shriver, as a birthday gift for the Dalai Lama. As a spirit stone, Poona zeolite is about accessing the God center – the source, the higher enlightenment. The earth is feminine energy, uniting our minds and hands with rocks, soil and water, while bringing us closer to the spirit. These things can be captured in one small water fountain. On a more practical level, inexpensive and popular for private homes are fountains made with a sandstone base. Sandstone gets rid of old issues; it cleans away the wreckage of the past. Another pleasant Zen water fountain is a wish fountain made with three smooth pebbles. Also popular is a Zen-garden-in-a-pot, featuring a combination of garden-variety plants, bonsai and a fountain Zen gardens and Zen fountains are extremely popular in Europe.
