Pink is a very girly colour and is also a colour that is strongly associated with affection and romantic love.  So if you are looking for the perfect gift of jewelry to show your lady how much you love her, look no further than some gorgeous pink gemstone jewelry.  But when you are doing your shopping for St Valentine’s Day or Christmas, do you know what pink gemstones there are for you to choose from?

We are very lucky as our planet has been abundantly blessed with many different gemstones and some of the most beautiful ones are pink.  If you have lots of cash to splash out, you can choose an exquisite pink diamond for your jewelry gift.  Coloured diamonds are also known as fancy diamonds, and pink diamonds are among the rarest of the coloured diamonds.  One of the most prolific producers of natural pink diamonds is now the Argyle Diamond in Western Australia, which produces around 90% of the world’s total supply.  If your heart is set on a diamond, you might find a treated gemstone more affordable, or these days you can even get lab-created synthetic diamonds.

If you would prefer a semi precious stone, probably the best known pink ones is Rose Quartz.  The soft pink lustre of this gemstone makes it very attractive, and it has been used since antiquity in jewelry and for carving into ornaments.  Apart from look stunning when set in pendants, rings or earrings, rose quartz is also used for crystal healing, as the rosy pink colour is thought to assist in healing and soothing the Heart Chakra as well as helping the wearer to love themselves and others more.

As tourmalines are known as the ‘rainbow’ gemstone, you would quite rightly expect there to be some exquisite pink tourmaline jewelry on the market. Tourmaline is one of the more plentiful gemstones, and one of the more striking varieties is known as ‘Watermelon Tourmaline’.  This unusual semi precious stone green on the outside, and is pink and white on the inside, so it looks just like the fruit it has been named after. Tourmaline is regarded as one of the October birthstones, so if you have somebody you love with a birthday in this month, then why not get them a gift of pink tourmaline jewelry?

There are also some rarer, less well-known, pink gemstones that you could choose if you wanted to pick out a more unique jewelry gift.  One such beautiful pink gemstone is kunzite.  Kunzite was only discovered relatively recently in California in 1902 and was named after the man who made the discovery, George F. Kunz. Because of where they were first found, they were originally called ‘California Iris’, and until recently kunzite was a stone really only known and appreciated by serious gem collectors.  It is rapidly becoming more popular, however, as kunzite is frequently cut into big stones that can be set into original and stunning pieces of jewelry.  A word of warning though, you need to keep you kunzite jewelry out of direct sunlight, as the colour of this gemstone can fade if it is exposed to too much bright light.

Can you imagine being in an old Inca silver mine in Argentina and finding that the stalagmites and stalactites are formed from an exquisite pink mineral called rhodochrosite?  Rhodochrosite is formed when the water in the mine shafts and caverns dissolves manganese and carbonate and then drips of the walls to slowly form these amazing crystal stalagmites and stalactites.  When they are sliced and polished they reveal bands of different colours of pink, and rhodochrosite crystals are also used to set in jewelry.  However, rhodochrosite is a very soft stone, which makes it difficult to cut into faceted gemstones, making them fairly rare and quite expensive.

All of these beautiful pink gemstones can be worn or carried to help balance your heart chakra, help you express love more easily or attract the love that you desire and desire. And what woman could resist a gorgeous, twinkling pink gemstone when it is presented to her by the love of her life?
